ED Raids Bengal Police Officer’s Residence in Coal Smuggling Case! Summons Pasted on Main Gate in Durgapur.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has accelerated its probe into the multi-crore coal smuggling scam by launching a massive raid at the residence of State Police official Manoranjan Mondal in Durgapur. Surrounded by central paramilitary forces, the ED team conducted a rigorous search operation and pasted a fresh summons on the main gate, ordering Mondal to appear at the ED office between 12 PM and 1 PM on March 13.
Mondal, a controversial figure previously suspended following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s crackdown on corrupt officials, is accused of receiving substantial ‘protection money’ from the coal mafia. Despite being summoned twice before, he had evaded the central agency. ED sources confirmed that if the official ignores this third summons, strict legal consequences, including potential arrest, may follow. Currently posted in the Special Branch, Mondal’s involvement in illegal financial transactions with influential coal smugglers is being thoroughly scrutinized.
