“EC Working as BJP’s Puppet”: TMC Explosive Allegations Over Voter List Manipulation

The political climate in West Bengal has reached a boiling point as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission (EC), accusing it of working hand-in-glove with the BJP. In a high-octane press conference, senior leaders Kunal Ghosh and Chandrima Bhattacharya alleged that the Commission has turned into a “servant of the BJP” to compensate for the saffron party’s lack of organizational strength.
Kunal Ghosh highlighted a potential “voter list scam,” claiming that the EC attempted to delete nearly 1.5 to 2 crore valid voters. “It is only because of Mamata Banerjee’s relentless legal and ground battle that these names were protected. The EC is trying to copy-paste voters from other states into Bengal’s lists,” Ghosh stated.
The party also raised red flags over the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) recent visit to Nandigram. Chandrima Bhattacharya questioned why the CEO was seen accompanied by BJP coordinators and close associates of the Leader of the Opposition. “Does this prove the neutrality of the Election Commission?” she asked while displaying photographic evidence. Despite these allegations of institutional bias, the TMC remains confident of a landslide victory, predicting over 250 seats for the Ma-Maati-Manush government for a historic fourth term.
