“Don’t Forget Our Favors”: Emirates Cricket Board Writes Stern Letter to PCB Over India Match

The uncertainty surrounding the high-octane India vs Pakistan clash in the 2026 T20 World Cup continues to intensify. Following Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has now stepped in, sending a formal letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) urging them to reconsider their decision to skip the February 15 encounter.

Reminding the “Old Favors”: According to a report by RevSportz, the ECB highlighted UAE’s crucial role in keeping Pakistan cricket alive during its isolation phase. The board reminded PCB that UAE provided its grounds as a ‘home’ for Pakistan for over a decade. “It is not right to forget favors,” the letter hinted, emphasizing the long-standing support provided to Pakistan during their darkest international days.

Impact on Cricket Ecosystem: The ECB warned that a boycott of the tournament’s biggest match would lead to a massive drop in broadcasting revenue and sponsorship value. This would not only harm the major stakeholders but also negatively impact the financial grants given to associate nations by the ICC.

Pakistan’s Three Demands: As per reports, PCB has placed three conditions before the ICC to play against India:

  1. An increase in Pakistan’s annual ICC fund share.
  2. ICC’s mediation to resume bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan.
  3. Strict adherence to post-match sporting traditions like handshakes.

While the ICC continues its efforts to mediate, all eyes are on the Pakistan government’s final call on whether they will soften their stand or if the World Cup’s biggest attraction will be canceled.
