Delhi Surges Ahead! Economic Growth Crosses 9%, Per Capita Income Set to Hit ₹5.31 Lakh

A day before the presentation of the Delhi Budget, the Economic Survey 2025-26 released on Monday showcased a robust performance of the national capital’s economy. According to the report, Delhi’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is estimated to reach ₹13,27,055 crore at current prices, reflecting a stellar growth rate of 9.15%.

The highlight of the survey is the significant leap in per capita income. It is projected to rise to ₹5,31,000 in the 2025-26 fiscal year, up from ₹4,76,000 in the previous year—a growth of nearly 11.5%. This puts the average income of a Delhi resident at nearly three times the national per capita income average.

Despite large outlays on subsidies for electricity, water, and healthcare, the survey notes that Delhi remains a “revenue surplus” state. Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot will present the formal budget tomorrow, where further allocations for infrastructure and education are expected. The report strengthens the AAP government’s narrative of efficient economic management ahead of the upcoming local polls.
