“Could Have Been Fatal”: Distressed Passenger Slams IRCTC Over Toxic Meal Allegations

A shocking incident has been reported on the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat Express, where a woman and her two-year-old son fell critically ill after allegedly consuming food served on the train. The passenger, Ayushi Singh, traveling in the E-1 coach on March 27, reported a severe allergic reaction within minutes of finishing her lunch.
The Medical Crisis: Ayushi took to social media to post distressing images of her swollen face and lips, along with a doctor’s prescription. She claimed that the infection escalated so rapidly that medical experts warned it could have been life-threatening without immediate intervention. Her toddler also suffered from acute diarrhea. “We hadn’t eaten anything from home as the train was early in the morning; everything we consumed was provided by the train,” she asserted.
IRCTC Refutes Claims: Despite the visual evidence, IRCTC has denied any lapse in food quality. According to Railway officials, an internal quality check showed no irregularities, and they noted that no other passenger in the same coach complained about the meal. This response has triggered massive backlash online, with Ayushi questioning the logic that if only one family suffered, it shouldn’t be taken seriously. As the post goes viral, the spotlight is once again on the hygiene and safety protocols of India’s flagship premium trains. A detailed investigation is reportedly underway.
