The RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has once again come under fire for poor maintenance after a lift malfunctioned, trapping patients and their family members for a significant amount of time. The incident, which took place on Wednesday, caused widespread panic as several individuals, including critically ill patients, were stuck inside the confined space.

According to reports, the lift came to a sudden halt between floors due to a technical glitch. Despite pressing the emergency alarm, help did not arrive immediately, causing immense distress to those inside. Some patients reportedly felt suffocated before the maintenance team arrived to force open the doors and rescue them.

This is not the first instance of lift failure at RG Kar. Frequent breakdowns have been reported in the past, putting the lives of patients and healthcare workers at risk. Angry relatives have slammed the hospital authorities for their negligence and lack of accountability regarding basic infrastructure.
