Can Vote Even if Cleared a Day Before Polling! ECI’s Big Announcement for Voters Under Adjudication

In a major relief to millions of voters in West Bengal, the Election Commission (ECI) has announced that individuals whose names are currently “under adjudication” will be eligible to vote if their cases are cleared even just a day before the polling begins. This decision addresses the widespread concern regarding the 6 million voters whose names were kept on hold during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

The ECI stated that once a judicial officer clears a pending claim, the voter’s name will be added to a supplementary list, allowing them to participate in the democratic process. This ensures that logistical delays in adjudication do not strip genuine citizens of their fundamental right to vote. The commission further highlighted that the inclusion process will remain active through supplementary lists until the last possible date before the specific phase of polling, providing much-needed clarity ahead of today’s 4 PM schedule announcement.
