Boycott ‘Dhurandhar 2’? Rs 750 Crore Mega Film Faces Backlash from Sikh Community

The multi-starrer action flick ‘Dhurandhar 2’, mounted on a massive budget of ₹750 crore, has landed in hot water. The organization ‘Sikhs in Maharashtra’ has raised a strong objection to a scene featuring Ranbir Kapoor and R. Madhavan. According to the complaint filed by Gurjyot Singh Kire, the President of the organization, the film shows R. Madhavan smoking a cigarette while Ranbir Kapoor is reciting sacred Gurbani verses.
“Tobacco and intoxicants are strictly prohibited near Gurbani. Showing such a scene is a blatant disregard for Sikh traditions and is highly offensive,” Kire stated. The Sikh community has demanded that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) take immediate note and delete the scene before its theatrical release. With hashtags like #BoycottDhurandhar2 trending on X (formerly Twitter), the filmmakers are under immense pressure to resolve the issue. Given the huge stakes involved in this ₹750 crore venture, this controversy could significantly impact the film’s opening performance.
