Bloodshed in Nandigram! TMC Worker Beaten to Death on Nomination Day

Nandigram has turned into a battlefield once again following the brutal murder of a veteran Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker on Thursday morning. Shaktipada Das (65), a resident of Sripur village in the Vikutia region, was allegedly beaten to death by goons. While the victim’s family and the TMC have pointed fingers at the BJP, the saffron party has vehemently denied any involvement.
According to local sources, Das was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries just a few meters away from his home around 10 AM. He was rushed to the Nandigram Super Speciality Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His family alleged that BJP-backed miscreants had threatened him on Wednesday evening, warning him not to participate in the nomination rally of TMC candidate Pabitra Kar. Das was reportedly on his way to join the rally when he was intercepted and attacked.
This marks the third high-profile political murder in West Bengal since the election buzz began, following killings in Raidighi and Kolkata. The incident has sparked massive tension in Nandigram, prompting the deployment of a large police contingent to prevent further escalation. The Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the incident as the political climate in the state reaches a breaking point.
