‘BJP Workers Must Wear Posters Post-May 4!’ Mamata’s Viral Threat Sparks National Outrage

The political battlefield of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections has intensified with a fresh legal confrontation. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a formal complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Kolkata and the Election Commission in Delhi against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The party alleges that the TMC supremo is openly inciting women against central paramilitary forces and intimidating BJP workers with post-poll consequences.

The ‘Poster’ Controversy According to the BJP delegation, which included Union Ministers, the CM reportedly claimed that after the results on May 4, BJP workers would be forced to wear posters around their necks declaring, “We do not belong to the BJP.” The saffron party has termed this a direct threat to the safety of its workers and a blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Incitement Allegations The complaint further highlights Mamata Banerjee’s speeches in Naxalbari and Pandaveswar, where she reportedly urged women to “come out with whatever they have at home” to resist central forces if they felt intimidated. BJP leaders Sukanta Majumdar and Suvendu Adhikari argued that such statements promote violence and undermine the credibility of the electoral process. The BJP has demanded a campaign ban on the CM to ensure a free and fair polling environment in the state.
