Big Update on Voter List! Final Electoral Roll on Feb 28; SIR Hearings Extended Till Feb 14

In a significant administrative move ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, the Election Commission has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. According to the latest notification, the hearings for claims and objections will now continue until February 14. Consequently, the publication of the final voter list, originally scheduled for mid-February, has been rescheduled to February 28.

This extension follows directions to ensure thorough scrutiny and to address “logical discrepancies” in the draft rolls. The commission aims to produce an error-free list to maintain the integrity of the upcoming polls. Officials have clarified that even after the final publication on February 28, citizens whose names are missing will have an opportunity to apply for inclusion through a simplified process.
