Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting LPG consumers with sophisticated scams disguised as gas booking services. From Jammu & Kashmir to other parts of India, fraudsters are using fake WhatsApp links and SMS promises of “exclusive discounts” or “VIP priority delivery” to lure victims.

Cyber analysts warn that these criminals create near-identical replicas of official gas websites. Once a user clicks on a malicious link and shares sensitive details like OTP or UPI PIN, their bank account is wiped out within minutes. To stay safe, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs advises using only verified company apps or official portals. Never share your banking credentials over the phone, as no legitimate service provider will ever ask for them. Remember, your awareness is the strongest shield against such digital threats.
