Bengal Election Dates: How Many Phases This Time? Here’s What the EC Sources Are Hinting at

As the Election Commission of India (ECI) prepares for its 4 PM press conference at Vigyan Bhawan, inside sources have leaked a tentative roadmap for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. Contrary to the previous 8-phase marathon, the commission is reportedly considering a 3 to 5 phase election to streamline security logistics.

Tentative Schedule as per Sources:

  • First Phase: Likely between April 16th and April 18th.
  • Final Phase: Expected around the first week of May.
  • Result Day: Tentatively scheduled for mid-May along with other states.

The ECI intends to start the polling from North Bengal, moving towards the South. With nearly 900 companies of central forces requested, the commission aims for a violence-free election. The Model Code of Conduct will be activated immediately following the official announcement at 4 PM today.
