Battle to Break the ‘Zero’ Spell! CPIM Targets 10 Key Seats in Bengal to Stage a Grand Comeback

The CPIM in West Bengal is gearing up for its most critical electoral battle yet. After being reduced to ‘zero’ in the previous assembly elections, the Left Front is determined to make a mark in the 2026 Assembly Polls. To shake off the tag of being politically invisible in the state legislature, the Alimuddin Street leadership has formulated a focused “Mission 10” strategy, pinpointing ten specific constituencies where the party believes it has the strongest chance of victory.

According to internal party reports, these ten seats include traditional strongholds and urban centers where the Left has seen a resurgence in vote share during recent local body polls. Key constituencies on the radar include Jadavpur, Siliguri, Dum Dum, Jamuria, and Ballygunge. The party is placing its bets on firebrand youth leaders like Minakshi Mukherjee and Srijan Bhattacharya to spearhead the campaign in these areas, aiming to tap into the growing dissatisfaction among young voters regarding unemployment and corruption.

A senior CPIM leader stated that while they are contesting across the state, these 10 seats will receive concentrated resources, booth-level monitoring, and high-profile campaigning. The strategy involves highlighting the failures of both the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP, positioning the Left as the only “principled alternative.” As the state heads toward the 2026 polls, all eyes are on whether the CPIM can end its decade-long drought and finally send a representative back to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
