Barrackpore Simmers! Protests Errupt After TMC Councilor Allegedly ‘Kicks’ Elderly Man to Death; Arjun Singh Leads Stir

Tensions flared up in the Barrackpore industrial belt on Monday following the death of an elderly man, allegedly due to an assault by a local TMC councilor. The incident sparked a massive showdown between BJP workers and the police at the B.N. Bose Hospital. Former MP Arjun Singh led a fierce protest, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused councilor.
According to the BJP, the elderly victim was kicked by the TMC leader during a verbal spat, leading to fatal internal injuries. As news of his death spread, BJP supporters stormed the hospital premises. The situation turned chaotic as protesters clashed with the police and attempted to break down security barricades.
While the TMC leadership has dismissed the allegations as “baseless political stunts,” Arjun Singh maintained that the party would not back down until justice was served. “A poor elderly man has lost his life due to the arrogance of a TMC leader. We will not let this go,” Singh stated. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm the cause of the tragedy. Security has been beefed up across Barrackpore to prevent further escalation.
