Banarasi Brinjal & Jaunpur Radish To Reach Dubai Markets! ₹35 Crore Cargo Terminal To Come Up In Varanasi

Farmers in eastern Uttar Pradesh are set to receive a major infrastructure boost as the government prepares to build a ‘Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal’ in Varanasi. Spread across 87 acres of land in three villages, this terminal will enable farmers, weavers, and artisans to export their products directly to international markets like Dubai and Sharjah. The project is estimated to cost around ₹35 crore.

Strategically Located for Global Reach: The terminal will be constructed in Gangapur, Dayalipur, and Jagdishpur villages. District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar confirmed that the land has been identified and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted for government approval. The primary goal is to provide a massive market for local produce while reducing the entry of heavy trucks into the city, thereby easing traffic congestion.

A Boon for Agriculture and Handicrafts: The terminal will benefit millions of farmers from Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Jaunpur. Exotic local produce such as Banarasi mangoes, pointed gourd, Jaunpur’s famous radishes, and Mirzapur’s brinjals will now find a global stage. Currently, export facilities are far from the airport, but this new terminal’s proximity will ensure that fresh produce meets international standards and reaches global kitchens faster and cheaper.
