‘Are You CM for Only One Community?’ Sukanta Majumdar Slams Mamata Over Murshidabad Violence

The communal flare-up in Murshidabad’s Rejinagar during a Ram Navami procession has triggered a fresh political war in West Bengal. BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar launched a blistering attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, holding her directly responsible for the security lapse. Majumdar questioned why, despite the CM’s “pre-emptive warnings” of potential clashes, the state police failed to protect the devotees.
The clash, which involved stone-pelting and crude bomb explosions, left several people injured and forced the police to use tear gas to disperse the mob. Speaking to the media, Sukanta Majumdar alleged that the violence was a result of the Chief Minister’s “provocative speeches” made during her recent election rallies. “The CM kept repeating that Ram Navami might lead to riots. Was she providing a hint to the miscreants or was this a scripted move to polarize voters?” Majumdar asked aggressively.
The BJP leader further questioned the Home Department’s failure, pointing out the lack of adequate security in sensitive zones. He accused Mamata Banerjee of practicing “appeasement politics” at the cost of the safety of the Hindu community. “You are the Chief Minister of the entire state, not just a particular group. Why is it that every year Ram Navami processions are targeted under your watch? Why is the police acting like a toothless tiger?” he remarked scathingly.
As the BJP demands a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the incident, the political atmosphere in Bengal has become intensely polarized just before the polls. While the Trinamool Congress has blamed the BJP for “instigating” the crowds to gain electoral traction, Sukanta Majumdar’s direct confrontation with the CM has made it clear that the saffron party intends to make the Murshidabad violence a central issue in the upcoming electoral phase. All eyes are now on the state administration’s next steps to restore peace.
