‘Answer Them at Polling Booths’: Abhishek Banerjee Fires Salvo at Opponents in South 24 Parganas

Launching the TMC’s 2026 Assembly election campaign from the coastal belt of Patharpratima, General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee presented a “Five-Oath” roadmap for his party workers. On Tuesday, addressing a massive crowd, Abhishek set a definitive vote-margin target for the local leadership, signaling an aggressive push to consolidate the party’s stronghold in South 24 Parganas.

The Five Oaths: Drawing inspiration from Mamata Banerjee’s ’10 Promises’ manifesto, Abhishek introduced five strategic oaths for the cadres. These include ensuring the reach of social welfare schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar, protecting the rights of farmers and fishermen, boosting local infrastructure, resisting Central government apathy, and securing an overwhelming mandate. He highlighted the stark contrast between the 64 years of post-independence neglect and the 15 years of rapid development under the TMC regime.

Winning Margin Target: Abhishek didn’t just ask for a win; he demanded a landslide. Setting a high bar for the victory margin, he instructed booth-level workers to ensure that the opposition is decimated by a record-breaking gap. “They made you stand in lines for investigations; now you stand in the voting line to give them a fitting reply,” he stated. By starting his campaign trail from Patharpratima, Abhishek has made it clear that the TMC intends to maintain its dominance in South Bengal before concluding the rally series in his own constituency, Diamond Harbour.
