On a scorching Sunday afternoon, the political temperature in Panihati reached a boiling point as West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar launched a blistering attack on the TMC government. Speaking at a high-octane election rally in North 24 Parganas, Majumdar centered his speech on the critical issue of women’s safety in the state. He asserted with conviction, “No government allowance will be of any use if the very soil of this state is not safe for our mothers and sisters.”

Majumdar accused the ruling party of prioritizing “dole politics” over the fundamental right to safety. Directly targeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he stated that while the government boasts about various financial schemes, the crime rate against women remains a dark reality. “The people of Bengal must decide today—is a few hundred rupees in allowance more important than the dignity and security of our women?” he questioned during the rally.

Referencing recent incidents of violence across the state, Majumdar urged voters to look beyond short-term financial benefits and vote for a system that ensures a secure environment. The massive turnout at the Panihati rally indicates that the BJP is pushing hard to make women’s safety a central theme of their campaign.
