‘After Anga & Kalinga, It’s Banga!’ Amit Shah Predicts Absolute Majority for BJP in Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a defiant tone for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the verge of securing an absolute majority in the state. During a high-voltage rally in Kolkata on Saturday, Shah unveiled a strategic vision, linking the political fates of Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal under his ‘Anga-Banga-Kalinga’ doctrine. He asserted that for the first time in decades, all three historic regions of eastern India would soon be governed by the same party.

“After many years, Anga (Bihar), Banga (Bengal), and Kalinga (Odisha) will have governments of the same party,” Shah proclaimed. By emphasizing that Bihar and Odisha are already under the NDA’s fold, he made it clear that capturing Bengal is the final piece of the BJP’s “Mission East” puzzle. According to him, this political alignment is crucial for national security, particularly in tackling illegal infiltration and strengthening the unfenced 600-km border with Bangladesh.

Sharpening his attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shah released a “chargesheet” accusing the TMC of fostering a culture of violence and corruption over its 15-year rule. He dismissed Banerjee’s narrative of central neglect as “victim card politics,” stating that the people of Bengal are now looking for “trust over fear.” Shah highlighted the BJP’s meteoric rise from 3 seats in 2016 to 77 in 2021 as a testament to the changing tide, vowing that 2026 will mark the dawn of ‘Sonar Bangla’ under a double-engine government.
