There will now be a complete ban on the movement of two-wheelers from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning; however, emergency services have been exempted from this restriction. Furthermore, regulations have been tightened for daytime hours (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) as well, under which bike riders will no longer be permitted to carry a pillion rider (another person) behind them.

The primary reason behind these restrictions is to curb the activities of anti-social elements prior to polling and to eliminate the possibility of voter intimidation. The Commission apprehends that attempts could be made to vitiate the electoral atmosphere through the medium of bike rallies.
