“We’ll Track Your Vote via App”, TMC Leader Nirmal Dutta Sparks Row with Aadhaar-Voter Link Claim

A massive controversy has erupted in the Bidhannagar assembly constituency after a video of local TMC leader Nirmal Dutta went viral. Speaking at a rally in the Duttabad area (Ward 38), Dutta allegedly threatened voters, stating, “Aadhaar and Voter IDs are linked. We will know exactly who you voted for through an app.”

The video has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition, with the BJP labeling it another example of “Jungle Raj” in Bengal. BJP leaders have demanded the immediate arrest of the leader and urged the Election Commission to intervene, accusing the TMC of infringing upon the democratic right to a secret ballot.

Election experts and officials have clarified that such claims are entirely baseless. There is no mechanism or app under the Indian electoral system that allows any political party to track individual votes through [Aadhaar Redacted] or Voter ID linking. Political analysts believe such statements are made solely to instill fear in the minds of voters. While the TMC candidate from Bidhannagar, Sujit Bose, is yet to comment on the matter, the incident has raised serious concerns regarding voter intimidation in a high-profile constituency.
