“If Modi is Corrupt, TMC is No Less”, Rahul Gandhi’s Twin Attack in Bengal

In a high-voltage campaign for Congress candidate Mohit Sengupta in Raiganj, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on both the TMC and the BJP. Standing on Bengal’s soil, the Congress MP asserted that the TMC’s failure is the primary reason behind the BJP’s rise in the state. “If the TMC had done its job properly, the BJP would never have found a foothold in Bengal,” he remarked.
Taking a swipe at PM Narendra Modi, Rahul stated that the Prime Minister cannot look him in the eye while speaking. Turning his focus toward the state government, he added, “If Narendra Modi is corrupt, the TMC is no less.” He cited the Saradha chit fund, teacher recruitment scam, and coal smuggling cases to highlight systemic corruption under the ruling party. He also raised the horrific RG Kar incident to question the safety and security of women in the state.
Rahul further highlighted the lack of industrial growth and the rising unemployment in Bengal. He claimed that while the TMC promised 5 lakh jobs, over 84 lakh youths are currently applying for unemployment allowances. Mentioning the murder of Congress leader Tapan Kandu, he accused the TMC of inciting violence. Rahul concluded by saying that unlike the TMC or BJP, Congress believes in the path of truth and non-violence to lead the nation forward.
