Delhi to Dehradun in Just 2.5 Hours! PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹12,000 Cr Expressway Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 213-km long Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor this Tuesday, marking a major leap in India’s infrastructure. Built at a staggering cost of over ₹12,000 crore, this six-lane access-controlled highway starts from Delhi’s Akshardham and traverses through key districts like Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur before reaching Dehradun.
The most significant highlight is the drastic reduction in travel time. The journey from Delhi to Dehradun, which previously took over 6 hours, will now be completed in under 2.5 hours. Commuters from Ghaziabad and Noida can reach the hilly capital in just 2 to 2.75 hours, significantly boosting regional connectivity and tourism.
Sustainability is at the heart of this project, featuring a 12-km long elevated wildlife corridor—one of Asia’s longest—to prevent human-animal conflict. It also includes 8 dedicated animal crossings, two 200-meter elephant underpasses, and a 370-meter tunnel near Dat Kali Temple. With an Advanced Traffic Management System and top-notch facilities, this corridor is poised to become an economic lifeline for North India.
