In the middle of the high-decibel election campaign in West Bengal, a cardiologist, Dr. Prakash Kumar Hazra, has sparked a massive controversy with a bizarre discount offer. A viral poster reveals that patients who chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at his clinic will receive a ₹500 discount on his consultation fee.

The poster features Dr. Hazra wearing a BJP stole and cap, linking the discount directly to his political affiliation. The IMA (Indian Medical Association) state branch has condemned the move, stating that discriminating against patients based on religion or political views is a violation of professional medical ethics. The Joint Platform of Doctors, West Bengal, also slammed the move, calling it a blow to the principle of treating all patients equally.

Despite the backlash, Dr. Hazra remains defiant, claiming that ‘Jai Shri Ram’ is a political slogan and as a BJP member, he wants to promote “change.” The IMA has served him a notice demanding an explanation within three days and has also notified the State Medical Council for further action.
