“Don’t Trust Them!”: Mamata Slams Amit Shah’s 1 Crore Jobs Promise as Election Stunt

The political battle in West Bengal has intensified as BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ promises a massive ₹3,000 monthly allowance for unemployed youth—double the current ‘Yuvashree’ scheme. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also pledged to create 1 crore jobs and self-employment opportunities over the next five years if voted to power.

Reacting sharply, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee urged voters not to trust the BJP’s promises. Speaking at a rally in Khandaghosh, she challenged the Centre’s track record, stating, “Where are the 2 crore annual jobs promised earlier? Why are posts in Railways and Defense still vacant?” She claimed her government has already reduced unemployment in Bengal by 40%.

The war of words extended to women-centric doles, with BJP promising to nearly double the ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ amount and provide free bus rides for women. Mamata dismissed these as “copied projects,” asserting that while TMC fulfills its promises, BJP only offers “election bribes” that vanish after the polls. With both sides playing the high-stakes card of financial assistance, all eyes are now on which way the electorate swings.
