No House, No Car; Mamata Banerjee’s Election Affidavit Reveals Her Minimalist Lifestyle!

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination for the Bhowanipore constituency on Wednesday, revealing an unexpectedly modest financial profile. Despite leading the state for over 15 years, the TMC supremo does not own a single piece of land, a house, or even a personal vehicle. Living in her ancestral Kali Ghat residence—which is not in her name—Mamata continues to portray the image of a leader rooted in simplicity.
According to her affidavit, she has ₹75,700 in cash and approximately ₹12.76 lakh in two bank accounts. Interestingly, her total movable assets have decreased by over ₹1.34 lakh since 2021, currently standing at ₹15.37 lakh. Her assets include about 9.75 grams of gold, which has appreciated in value though the quantity remains unchanged. With zero liabilities and a clean criminal record (no FIRs), she declared her income sources as book royalties and bank interest. As she gears up for a high-stakes battle against BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in Bhowanipore, her “Aam Aadmi” persona remains her strongest political narrative.
