A wave of shock and outrage has gripped Uttarpara after allegations of systematic sexual abuse of minor students at a government primary school surfaced. According to reports, a teacher had been preying on the students for a long time. The situation intensified when local police allegedly hesitated to register a complaint, prompting Uttarpara’s BJP candidate, Dipanjan Chakraborty, to step in and support the victims’ families.

Following the intervention of the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, the administration finally took action late at night. The accused teacher was booked under the stringent POCSO Act and taken into custody. The incident has raised serious questions about the initial police inaction and how such heinous crimes went unnoticed for so long within a government institution.
