“Fish & Meat Sales Will Boom Under BJP!” Sukanta Majumdar Rubbishes TMC’s Ban Claims

Countering TMC’s nationwide narrative that BJP would ban non-vegetarian food if voted to power in Bengal, Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar took his campaign straight to a local fish market. On Wednesday morning, while campaigning for BJP candidate Bidyut Kumar Ray at Balurghat’s Teh Bazar, Majumdar assured vendors and buyers that meat and fish consumption would actually increase under a BJP government.
Refuting CM Mamata Banerjee’s repeated warnings, Majumdar pointed towards Tripura, stating, “Our government is in power in Tripura, and the Bengalis there consume more fish than anyone else. The CM is spreading blatant lies.” Meanwhile, TMC hit back, claiming Majumdar was trying to cover up the meat bans imposed in other BJP-ruled states. Beyond the food debate, Majumdar also highlighted the plight of the Balurghat Airport. He revealed that his chartered plane couldn’t land due to poor infrastructure and promised that the BJP would prioritize operationalizing the airport once they take charge.
