“Be Ravana, Not Vibhishana!” Garga Chatterjee’s Explosive Post Sparks Outrage

Garga Chatterjee, the General Secretary of Bangla Pokkho, has stirred a massive controversy by comparing West Bengal to Ravana’s Lanka. In a provocative Facebook post, he stated, “If Bengal is Lanka, then be Ravana, not Vibhishana.” His post was aimed at critics who he believes are betraying the state while living within its borders.

The post immediately went viral, drawing sharp reactions from netizens. While some mocked that Bengal has already turned into “Lanka” due to alleged misgovernance, others slammed the organization as the “B-team” of the ruling TMC. A significant section of social media users criticized the “Joy Bangla” slogan, labeling it an import from Bangladesh and accusing the group of trying to alter the state’s identity.

The backlash didn’t stop there. Many users asserted that they aspire for “Ram Rajya” rather than being part of Ravana’s kingdom. One viral comment read, “Joy Bangla lasts as long as the funds flow; once the money stops, it’s Joy Shree Ram.” Defending the character of Vibhishana, several users argued that siding with truth (Lord Rama) is always superior to supporting a tyrannical Ravana. As the debate intensifies, Chatterjee’s attempt to stir regional pride seems to have backfired, turning into a battlefield of ideologies.
