The spiritual aura of Varanasi’s Ganga Ghats, known for the divine Sandhya Aarti, has been hit by a shocking controversy. A video currently circulating on social media shows a group of people turning a boat into a party zone, consuming alcohol and cooking meat right in the middle of the holy river.

The footage captures numerous beer cans scattered across the boat while a meal is being prepared on an open stove. Adjacent to it, another boat is seen with people dancing obscenely to blaring music, completely disregarding the sanctity of the location. While the authenticity of the video is yet to be independently verified, the visual evidence has triggered a massive backlash online.

Taking swift action, the Varanasi Police have reportedly detained the individuals identified in the video. A high-level investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events. Netizens are divided; while many demand strict punishment and mandatory CCTV on all boats to preserve the river’s purity, others highlight the growing menace of public nuisance in tourist spots.
