‘Beware! Even the Little You Have Will Be Gone,’ Mamata Alerts Voters Against BJP

In a high-decibel campaign ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sounded a major alarm regarding the state’s flagship ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme. Addressing a massive gathering on Sunday, the TMC supremo cautioned women voters that the BJP aims to scrap the welfare scheme if they come to power. “Be very careful! Whatever you are receiving now in your accounts will be snatched away by them,” she warned.
The Chief Minister did not stop at financial schemes; she also raised serious allegations regarding the integrity of the voting process. Mamata claimed that the BJP is planning to cause deliberate “load-shedding” (power cuts) during the elections to rig EVM machines. Calling her opponents a “party of pickpockets,” she urged the public to stay vigilant at the booths. Political analysts view this as a strategic move to consolidate the crucial female vote bank, which has been a pillar of TMC’s strength. As the rhetoric intensifies, Mamata’s warning about the discontinuation of social benefits has become the central theme of her Sunday outreach.
