Political Rivalry or Old Friendship? TMC Veteran Seen Blessing BJP’s Haradhan Sarkar

The political atmosphere in Rajganj has turned electric following a viral video involving rival party figures. During a campaign trail in Gatebazar, BJP candidate Haradhan Sarkar was seen receiving blessings from a veteran Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, Lalit Roy, sparking intense debate across Jalpaiguri district.
The Unexpected Encounter: While Haradhan Sarkar was moving from shop to shop to connect with voters, he crossed paths with Lalit Roy, the former TMC President of Mandatari region. In a rare display of camaraderie, the BJP candidate approached Roy, who then placed his hand on Sarkar’s head to bless him. As the footage went viral, Lalit Roy quickly clarified, “Haradhan is a long-time friend. Blessing him was a personal gesture of courtesy, but I remain a loyal TMC worker and my vote is for Mamata Banerjee.”
Political Reactions: A confident Haradhan Sarkar claimed that the blessings reflect the common man’s desire to escape “TMC’s reign of terror,” predicting a 100% victory for the BJP. On the other hand, TMC District Spokesperson Shubhankar Mishra dismissed the incident as “political courtesy,” a trait he claimed was inherent in TMC but absent in BJP. He maintained that their candidate, Swapna Barman, carries the blessings of Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee and will secure a massive mandate. Whether this was mere courtesy or a deeper political shift remains the talk of the town.
