Shashi Tharoor’s Convoy Attacked in Kerala; Security Personnel and Driver Injured

In a shocking incident in Malappuram, Kerala, the team of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was targeted by a group of miscreants on Friday evening. While the MP remained unhurt, his driver and security guard were reportedly assaulted after their convoy was intercepted by two vehicles.
The Incident: The confrontation occurred around 7:30 PM near the Chellithode bridge in Wandoor. Tharoor was en route to a campaign event for Congress leader A P Anilkumar. According to the FIR, the trouble began when Tharoor’s gunman asked a vehicle ahead to clear the narrow road. A group of five men allegedly blocked the convoy and physically assaulted the security personnel and the driver.
Current Status: Following a complaint by security guard Ratheesh K P, the Wandoor police have registered a case and taken one individual into custody. Reacting to the incident on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Shashi Tharoor assured his followers of his safety, stating, “I am untouched, though my security personnel was attacked. We proceeded with our scheduled campaign despite the unfortunate incident.”
