The political temperature in Kharagpur Sadar has reached a boiling point as veteran BJP leader Dilip Ghosh is set to file his nomination today. The day will commence at 10 AM with prayers at the Kharagpur Ram Mandir, followed by a massive roadshow. The procession will traverse through Golbazar before reaching the Sub-Divisional Officer’s (SDO) office.

To bolster the campaign, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will join the rally. Kharagpur Sadar holds sentimental value for Ghosh, as he first became an MLA from here in 2016 by a margin of over 27,000 votes. While the BJP lost the seat in the 2019 by-polls after Ghosh moved to Parliament, the party regained it in the 2021 Assembly elections.

For Dilip Ghosh, this is a “Prestige Fight.” Known for his aggressive rhetoric, he has set a target to win by a margin of 1 lakh votes, claiming he will secure two-thirds of the total 2.5 lakh votes in the constituency. Following the high-profile nomination of Suvendu Adhikari in Bhawanipur earlier this week, the enthusiasm among BJP workers in Kharagpur is at an all-time high.
