Chaos in Tarakeswar: BJP Activist Critical After Violent Clash Over Tearing TMC Flags; Shifted to Kolkata

The political atmosphere in Hooghly’s Tarakeswar turned violent following a brutal clash between two BJP workers over the tearing of TMC flags. The victim, Nimai Samanta, was severely injured and had to be rushed to a Kolkata hospital after his condition deteriorated. The incident has caused widespread panic in the Gayeshpur area.

According to local reports, the conflict began when BJP worker Kamal Samanta allegedly started tearing down TMC flags while putting up BJP banners. When Nimai, a fellow BJP supporter, protested against this, a heated argument ensued. It quickly escalated into a physical brawl where Kamal reportedly struck Nimai with bamboo sticks and glass bottles. Police have arrested Kamal and another associate in connection with the assault. While TMC candidate Ramendu Singharay slammed the BJP as a “party of miscreants,” BJP district vice-president Ganesh Chakraborty dismissed the incident as a private family dispute being politicized by the ruling party.
