Relief from Scorching Heat! Rain and Thunderstorms Predicted for Bengal Early This April

After a brief trailer of intense summer heat, West Bengal is finally set to receive some much-needed relief. With temperatures hitting 40°C in the western districts and high humidity choking Kolkata, the Alipore Weather Office has predicted a significant weather shift. A new Western Disturbance is likely to trigger rain and thunderstorms across the state from Sunday to Wednesday, bringing the temperature down by 3 to 4 degrees.

While today remains hot and humid with Kolkata’s maximum temperature hovering around 36°C, clouds are expected to gather by late afternoon. A yellow alert has been issued for Kolkata starting Sunday. Meanwhile, North Bengal districts like Darjeeling and Kalimpong might see scattered light rain today. Western districts of South Bengal can expect isolated showers from tomorrow, signaling an end to the current dry and sweltering spell.
