Nepal Escape Thwarted! Mastermind of Kaliachak Violence Arrested at Bagdogra Airport

In a major breakthrough, the CID arrested Mofakkarul Islam, the prime accused in the Kaliachak violence, at Bagdogra Airport while he was attempting to flee to Nepal. Islam, a lawyer by profession from Itahar, is accused of inciting communal unrest by circulating provocative videos regarding the removal of names from voter lists. His instigation led to a terrifying attempt to physically assault seven judges in Malda.
Intelligence sources suggest that after orchestrating the violence, Islam planned to use Nepal as a transit point to escape to Bangladesh or hide in ISI-linked safe houses. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar confirmed the Nepal connection, highlighting the gravity of the conspiracy. His involvement in previous communal clashes in Murshidabad has also surfaced during the probe.
Recognizing the potential terror angle, the Election Commission took the unprecedented step of transferring the case from the CBI to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The central agency is currently in Moathabari to initiate the takeover. The shift in investigation indicates a deeper, organized agenda aimed at destabilizing the region during the elections.
