Narrow Escape at NRS Hospital! Ceiling Collapses in CCU with 12 Patients Inside.

A major tragedy was narrowly averted at the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata when a large chunk of the ceiling collapsed inside the CCU on the 6th floor of the UNB building. At the time of the incident, 12 critically ill patients were undergoing treatment in the unit. Fortunately, all patients escaped unhurt and were immediately shifted to a safe location by the hospital staff.

The impact of the falling debris was so severe that it caused cracks on the CCU floor, and prominent fissures appeared on the ceiling. Following the incident, the NRS authorities have taken a tough call to halt all new admissions to this CCU unit. The facility will remain closed until the PWD completes extensive repair and structural safety work. This lapse has raised serious concerns regarding the maintenance of state-run medical facilities.
