Election Season Bonanza, WB Govt Sets 6-Month Deadline to Settle Pending DA Dues!

In a major relief for retired West Bengal government employees, the Finance Department has officially initiated the process of clearing long-pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and arrears. This move specifically targets employees who retired between 2008 and 2015, a group whose payments were previously stalled due to legal complexities and administrative ambiguity.
According to the notification from Nabanna, the benefit extends to family pensioners as well. In cases where the original employee is deceased, the arrears will be credited directly to the nominee’s bank account. The state has set a strict deadline of 180 days (6 months) to complete the entire disbursement process.
All major departments, including Education, Transport, and Panchayats, have been directed to expedite the preparation of pensioner lists. A high-level meeting chaired by the Finance Secretary emphasized that the calculation of dues must be accurate to ensure every legitimate claimant receives their rightful share. This step follows the prior settlement of 2016-2019 dues for current employees.
