The Mandarmani coastline has witnessed another horrifying incident just days after the tragic demise of actor Rahul Banerjee. In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young doctor couple drowned while bathing in the sea on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Kuntal Chakraborty, a surgeon, and his wife, Dr. Shailaja Bhardwaj, a gynecologist.

The couple, residents of Vivekananda Park in North 24 Parganas, had traveled to the seaside for a getaway. According to police sources, they went missing after being swept away by a strong undercurrent. Late Wednesday night, locals spotted two bodies floating near the Biswa Bangla Center in Tajpur. They were rushed to Balisai Hospital, where they were declared brought dead. The couple, who got married in 2023, were well-known professionals in their field. Their bodies have been sent to Contai Sub-divisional Hospital for post-mortem, leaving their hometown in a state of profound grief.
