“Super President’s Rule in Bengal!” Mamata Blames Election Commission for Malda Unrest

Following the Supreme Court’s sharp criticism regarding the blockade of judicial officers in Malda, CM Mamata Banerjee has hit back, accusing the Election Commission (EC) of administrative failure. Speaking at a rally in Sagardighi, she claimed that the state is currently under “Super President’s Rule” where officials act solely on Amit Shah’s instructions.
“I wasn’t even informed by the administration; I learned about the judges being held hostage from a journalist,” Mamata revealed. She characterized the violence as a “BJP Game Plan” and launched a dual attack on Asaduddin Owaisi and local defectors, alleging they are taking money to incite unrest. While promising that no one would be sent to detention camps, she warned citizens against taking the law into their own hands to avoid NIA or CBI crackdowns. Supporting the state counsel Menaka Guruswamy’s argument in court, the CM emphasized that the frequent transfer of top officials by the EC has paralyzed the local administration’s ability to maintain peace.
