Police Attacked in Birbhum! Siuri IC Critically Injured as Villagers Pelt Stones Over Road Dispute

The Kankuria village under Siuri Police Station in Birbhum turned into a battlefield following a violent clash over road construction. Shailendra Upadhyay, the Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of Siuri Police Station, was critically injured after being hit by stones pelted by agitated villagers. To prevent further escalation, a massive contingent of state police and Central Forces has been deployed in the area.
Local sources suggest that a dispute regarding a new road had been simmering for several days. When construction began today, a section of villagers launched a fierce protest. As IC Upadhyay arrived with his team to mediate, the mob allegedly started raining stones on the police vehicle. The IC sustained severe head and body injuries and was rushed to Siuri Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The village remains tense as security forces conduct route marches to maintain peace, while senior officials investigate why a local developmental issue turned so violent.
