Huge Salary Hike! Will Fitment Factor Increase 5 Times for Central Govt Employees?

  1. Central government employees are buzzing with excitement as a massive update regarding the 8th Pay Commission has surfaced. While the commission is scheduled to submit its recommendations within the next 18 months, new projections about the potential salary hike are already making headlines.

The ‘Fitment Factor’ remains the key element in these calculations. According to Manjeet Singh Patel, National President of the All India NPS Employees Federation, if the Dearness Allowance (DA) hits 70% and the fitment factor is recommended at 5 (up from the previous 3), the pay structure will witness a historic transformation.

Under this proposed formula, the basic pay for Level 1 employees could skyrocket from ₹18,000 to ₹54,000 per month. This means the annual package for entry-level staff could rise from ₹2.5 lakh to a staggering ₹7.5 lakh. While these figures have created a wave of optimism, the final implementation details will depend on the government’s official notification.
