ED Unearths 300 Pages of Deeds at ‘Bahubali’ Sona Pappu’s Residence; Pistol and Luxury Car Seized

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its crackdown on South Kolkata’s notorious strongman Vishwajit Poddar, alias Sona Pappu. During a marathon raid across 10 locations including Ballygunge and Kasba, officials recovered approximately 300 pages of land deeds, a country-made pistol, and a luxury Fortuner car from Sona Pappu’s residence. The firearm has been handed over to the Gariahat Police Station.
According to ED sources, ₹1.20 crore in cash was seized from the residence of the MD of ‘Sun Enterprises’ in Behala. Investigations revealed a direct link between Sona Pappu and this firm, suggesting a massive money laundering trail. It is alleged that Sona Pappu collected crores through extortion from builders under the guise of construction projects and funneled the “protection money” to influential individuals.
Despite having over 15 FIRs against him, including a primary role in the February bombing incident at Kankulia Road, Pappu remained at large. The ED is now investigating why no strict action was taken against him earlier. While Sona Pappu was not present during the raid, the agency is tracking his whereabouts. Additionally, searches were conducted at the IPAC office in Hyderabad as part of this ongoing financial fraud investigation.
