Major Move on DA! Nabanna Initiates Process to Clear Arrears for Teachers and Pensioners

In a significant development regarding the long-standing Dearness Allowance (DA) issue, the West Bengal government has intensified efforts to clear pending dues. While some arrears from 2016 to 2019 have already been settled, the administration is now focusing on employees of state-aided educational institutions and pensioners.

According to sources, a high-level meeting led by the Finance Department was held on Wednesday. Top officials discussed the roadmap to expedite the payment of pending DA and Dearness Relief (DR). The proactive stance of the government suggests that a resolution might be on the horizon for those who have been waiting for years.

Nabanna has reportedly issued directives to all state departments to submit comprehensive data regarding their staff and pensioners. The government is specifically looking to calculate the arrears for the period between April 2008 and December 2019. Collating this massive data to identify eligible beneficiaries and the total outstanding amount is currently the top priority for the administration.
