Rahul Banerjee Death Mystery: Leena Gangopadhyay to Quit Women’s Commission for Fair Probe

The sudden and tragic demise of Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee due to drowning at Talsari beach has triggered a massive controversy in Tollywood. Facing heat over alleged safety lapses during the outdoor shoot of the TV serial “Bhole Baba Par Karega,” renowned producer and writer Leena Gangopadhyay has decided to resign from her post as the Chairperson of the West Bengal Women’s Commission.

According to the production house, Leena Gangopadhyay’s decision stems from a desire to ensure a completely neutral and transparent investigation into the incident. Since her company, ‘Magic Moments,’ is under fire for allegedly failing to provide adequate safety measures and operating without valid shoot permissions, she believes that holding a high-ranking government position might create a conflict of interest during the probe.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has already demanded ₹1 crore in compensation for Rahul’s family and called for a “murder” case to be registered against the production house and the channel. While Leena maintains that no scene in the script required the actors to venture into deep waters, the industry is split over her accountability. Her resignation is being seen as a move to silence critics who accused her of using political influence to shield her production team. As the East Midnapore police interrogate crew members, the focus now shifts to whether this “moral” resignation will lead to justice for the late actor.
