Mamata Rallies in Nanur but Anubrata Mondal Remains Absent; Is Birbhum TMC Witnessing a Power Shift?

In a high-decibel election rally at Nanur, Birbhum, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP, even as the noticeable absence of district strongman Anubrata Mondal stole the headlines. This being her major outreach in the district ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, Mondal’s non-appearance has fueled intense speculation regarding his current standing within the party hierarchy. Instead, local leader Kajal Sheikh was seen prominently alongside the Chief Minister, signaling a potential realignment of power in the district.
Addressing the ongoing ‘Form 6’ controversy, Banerjee accused the BJP of attempting “voter hijacking” by allegedly smuggling outsiders from neighboring states into Bengal’s electoral rolls. She warned the administration and party workers to remain vigilant against fraudulent enrollments. On the other hand, the BJP dismissed these claims as a “smokescreen” to hide the TMC’s fear of losing ground. While the Chief Minister focused on the integrity of the voting process, the political chatter remained fixed on the “missing Keshto” factor. Whether this absence is a strategic move or a sign of deeper internal friction, the Nanur rally has certainly set a new tone for the upcoming electoral battle in Birbhum.
