High Voltage Drama Outside Election Commission: Violent Clash Between TMC and BJP Over Sacks of Form-6

The political atmosphere in West Bengal turned volatile on Tuesday as the headquarters of the Election Commission in Kolkata witnessed a violent showdown between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters. The flashpoint of the conflict was the submission of thousands of ‘Form-6’ applications—used for enrolling new voters in the electoral rolls—which were reportedly brought to the office in large sacks.
Allegations of Fraud and Counter-Claims The situation escalated rapidly when BJP workers accused the TMC of attempting to rig the upcoming polls by submitting fake or unauthorized application forms in bulk. The BJP leadership claimed that this was a desperate move by the ruling party to manipulate the voter list. On the other hand, the TMC rubbished these allegations, asserting that they were merely facilitating the registration of genuine voters whose rights were being obstructed by “scared” BJP cadres. The verbal spat soon turned into a physical brawl, with both sides engaging in heavy pushing, shoving, and slogan-shouting.
Police Intervention and Security Concerns Local police had to intervene and use force to separate the two warring factions. Several activists from both parties reportedly sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Following the incident, the Election Commission has assured that every single form will undergo a rigorous verification process to ensure transparency. This violent confrontation right outside the poll panel’s office has raised serious concerns about the law and order situation and the possibility of more such clashes as the state moves closer to the election dates. The ‘battle of the sacks’ has now become the latest flashpoint in the bitter rivalry between the two political giants.
