The sudden and tragic demise of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee on March 29 has left the Bengali film industry in a state of profound shock. Rahul lost his life in a fatal accident during a shoot in Talsari. Following his cremation on March 30, legendary filmmaker Aparna Sen shared an emotional post, expressing her disbelief and sorrow over the loss of such a “vibrant soul.”

Though she was not in Kolkata during the accident, Aparna Sen noted how deeply shaken she felt. Recalling their brief professional stint in the movie ‘Arshinagar’, where Rahul and Priyanka appeared as guest artists, she lamented that it turned out to be their first and last collaboration. “I was an admirer of your multifaceted talents—your acting, your writing, and your eloquence,” she wrote, expressing regret that she could never fulfill the hope of appearing on his podcast.

The funeral was attended by industry stalwarts like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Sudipta Chakraborty, and Ankush, who were seen struggling to hold back tears. Aparna Sen concluded her tribute with a moving prayer: “If there is any existence after death, may you rule there with a new life.”
